I rarely stick with the publisher’s “original” font in Apple Books, because that usually means accepting hyphenation and right-justification into the bargain. Today I was lamenting the sparse choice of sans fonts in that app when it struck me that I‘d never tried San Francisco, considering it “just” a system font. So I gave it a shot tonight (reading Naomi Alderman’s Disobedience) and I think this may be my new default. In recent months my default choice has been Iowan but (having written a thesis on seventeenth-century poetry), I’d really like to avoid serif fonts in reading more “modern” texts.
